World Orphan Connection - Purpose, Goal, Vision

World Orphan Connection (WOC)

Purpose:
We intend on serving the world’s orphans, recently estimated at 143,000,000 million and growing, “one idea at a time.” What does this mean and how does this work?

In a nutshell, WOC has a “three-pronged approach.” First, we seek to raise money and distribute the funds to organizations around the world that have a proven track record of helping orphans. We will initially give $1000 (US Dollars) grants for specific projects that serve orphans. We will consider any project that enriches the lives of the children served socially, educationally, culturally, professionally, emotionally, mentally or physically so long as the project is not solely designed to meet basic needs or is only spiritual in nature. We also wish to fund organizations that have a long term plan for sustainability so that we are encouraging organizations to
move beyond donor dependency.

The second prong is what we at WOC refer to as the “international hub,” which is our website that will eventually allow organizations around the world to be linked together so that they may share ideas and information, and potentially resources. In addition, this website will allow WOC donors to know, with absolute confidence, that their money and time is being put to good use and is actually making a difference for orphans. Lastly, WOC seeks to link volunteers with organizations around the world that can use
their skills.

Our Goal:
To reach orphans in every country by 2025.   We believe partnerships with businesses, organizations and individuals will be crucial in raising the funds needed.

Our Mission:
To see a world where all children are nutured, loved, inspired, and cherished.  We want to see a world where all children’s basic physical needs are met and that they are provided with resources for education from the early stages of their lives.  We want to permanently break down barriers for those left orphaned regardless of social, political, or economic conditions. This may seem, and likely may be idealistic, but what is the worst that can happen by trying? Even if we fall dramatically short and help thousands of orphans, we can live with such a failure.
