 Treasure Boxes & Functional Art

Built by hand. Given with purpose. Made to last.

For many foster youth, life is lived in motion—belongings packed into bags, memories at risk of being lost along the way. Our treasure boxes offer something different: a constant. A place to hold the small but meaningful pieces of a life—photos, letters, keepsakes—something that is truly theirs.

The first chapter of this work began with our founder, Betsy Meredith, who hand-built 150 wooden treasure boxes from scratch. Each one was then brought to life by artists who donated their time, transforming them into deeply personal, hand-painted pieces. No two are alike—each one reflects care, creativity, and the belief that every young person deserves something made just for them.

We’ve since expanded this work into functional art—often repurposed furniture that is reimagined and decorated to reflect a young person’s personality, passions, and identity. A painted nightstand, a redesigned desk, a piece that turns a space into something that feels like home.

Now, we’re ready to build more.

If you’re a woodworker, carpenter, or builder, or an artist looking to contribute your craft, we’d love to collaborate. We can provide the details and guidance needed to help you create treasure boxes or functional art pieces for youth in the foster system.

Help us build something lasting. Reach out to get involved.
